What ages do you accept?

Boys in kindergarten through 12th grade. Younger boys join the Woodlands trail, then move into Navigators (6th–8th) and Adventurers (9th–12th).

Do we have to be members of a particular church?

No. Trail Life is a Christian organization, and we share a faith foundation, but families from any church background are welcome.

How do I visit a meeting?

Submit the interest form on our Join page. A leader will reach out within a few days to set up a visit.

Is this a drop-off program?

For our Navigator & Adventurer program levels, we do allow drop-off. Camping and activities drop-off must adhere to the youth safety parameters outlined by Trail Life USA. For our Woodlands Trail program level, drop-off is not allowed, but rare exceptions can be made. We strongly encourage fathers to actively participate with their sons.

What does it cost?

Local troop dues cover supplies, insurance, awards, and basic operating costs. Specific campouts and trips have separate per-event fees. Scholarships are available — talk to a leader.

How often do you meet?

Weekly troop meetings during the school year, plus a monthly outing — usually a hike, service project, or campout.

Are dads required to come along?

Dads (or another trusted male mentor) are strongly encouraged to be involved. The troop runs on engaged dads — but we know schedules vary, and we'll work with your family.

As a parent or guardian do I need to volunteer?

We do not require parents to volunteer or become Registered Adults, but we do expect parents to be engaged with the troop's needs. From time to time we put out a call for parents to step up and help. Parents who have the capacity to help should, so your son(s) and the other boys in the troop can thrive.

Does the troop participate in fundraisers?

Currently we do not fundraise. We have looked at fundraising options but are unable to participate at this time.

What about background checks for leaders?

Every registered adult leader completes Trail Life USA's background check and child protection training. This is non-negotiable.

What Child Safety policies are in place?

Our troop and Trail Life USA take youth safety very seriously. All adult leaders are required to pass a criminal background check and youth protection training. The 1-2-3 Youth Protection Essentials are strictly upheld.

Question 12

How do I register and manage my son's membership?

Accepted Answer

You will be sent a link to register on Trail Life Connect (TLC), the portal that tracks activities, advancement, events, and communications. Once registered, a household is established and you add each son joining the troop. You can view information about your child and troop events on TLC.

Question 13

How do I receive troop communications?

Our troop leadership sends emails for important communications and events. We also have a Slack channel for parents, guardians, and volunteers to ask questions, share ideas, and more.
