Whether you’re a first-time camper or a seasoned outdoorsman, proper preparation is key to having a safe and enjoyable time in the great outdoors. This guide will help you know what to bring, what to expect, and how to make the most of our camping trips.
What to Bring: The Essentials
Packing the right gear ensures a comfortable and safe experience. Here’s a checklist to help you prepare:
Clothing & Footwear:
- Moisture-wicking base layers
- Insulated jacket (weather-dependent)
- Waterproof jacket or poncho
- Durable pants or shorts
- Comfortable, sturdy hiking boots or shoes
- Extra socks and underwear
- Hat and gloves (if needed for the season)
- Sleepwear appropriate for weather conditions
Camping Gear:
- Tent (with footprint & rainfly, appropriately sized)
- Sleeping bag (appropriate for expected temperatures)
- Sleeping pad or air mattress
- Pillow (optional but nice to have)
- Small flashlight or headlamp with extra batteries
- Personal mess kit (plate, bowl, cup, utensils)
- Water bottle or hydration pack
- Small backpack for day hikes
