Woodlands Trail
Fox Patrol
(ages 5-6)
The Joining Award is the first accomplishment for each Woodlands Trail patrol. At the Fox level, Trailmen should be able to understand the joining award requirements and demonstrate these requirements in the group setting. Those requirements include:
- Memorize the Trailman Oath.
- Learn the Trailman Sign and when to use it.
- Learn the Trailman Salute and when to use it.
- Learn the Trailman Handshake.
- Recite the Pledge of Allegiance.


Forest Award
Upon earning the seven Fox patrol branch pins, the Trailman is awarded the patrol Forest Award, signifying their completion of the branch patch and providing a foundation for earning sylvan stars.
Hawk Patrol
(ages 7-8)

- Memorize the Trailman Oath.
- Learn the Trailman Sign and when to use it.
- Learn the Trailman Salute and when to use it.
- Learn the Trailman Handshake.
- Recite the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mountain Lion Patrol
(ages 9-10)
Joining Award (Branch Patch)
The Joining Award is the first accomplishment for each Woodlands Trail patrol. At the Mountain Lion level, Trailmen should be able to understand the award requirements and demonstrate all requirements to troop leaders. Those requirements include:
- Memorize the Trailman Oath.
- Learn the Trailman Sign and when to use it.
- Learn the Trailman Salute and when to use it.
- Learn the Trailman Handshake.
- Recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
- Understand how to properly fold the American flag.
